Employment

The centrepiece of GVK Hancock’s benefits to Central Queensland and the broader State, is the significant employment, which will flow directly from the 2.5 to 3 year construction phase and 30 plus years of operations.

In-depth socioeconomic studies show that our Galilee Basin projects will create significant flow-on benefits to the broader community and other businesses with a projected total direct and indirect employment of over 20,000 people throughout Central Queensland and the State.

Our Galilee Basin projects pose a unique opportunity to be associated with one of the most significant projects undertaken in Australia, both in scope and complexity, as well as being the leading major mining project in Queensland's Galilee Basin.

Construction Phase

During this phase GVK Hancock will engage world class Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractors to undertake the construction and commissioning of the Mine, Rail and Port.

Whilst around 7,000 people will be directly employed during the construction phase, GVK Hancock will only have a small owner’s representative team with the majority of the construction workforce to be engaged directly by our EPC Contractors and their subcontractors.  As these Contractors are nominated, their details will be provided on this site.

Operations Phase

The operations phase of the Project will last 30 plus years with GVK Hancock and its contractors directly employing around 3,800 people.

GVK Hancock is not currently seeking submissions for employment opportunities. Details regarding opportunities will be provided on this site when they are available.
